WATCH: Kansas rocks “Carry On My Wayward Son” Live at Canada Jam 1978

Kansas was riding high in the summer of 1978, their fourth album, Leftoverture, released in October 1976, had produced a hit single, “Carry On Wayward Son”, in 1977 and their follow-up, Point of Know Return, recorded at Studio in the Country and Woodland Sound in Nashville and released in October 1977, featured the title track and “Dust in the Wind”, both which would go on to be smash singles. That lead them to be featured at the now famous Canada Jam was a rock music festival concert held at Mosport Park in Ontario Canada on August 26, 1978. The festival was the brainchild of Sandy Feldman and Leonard Stogel, who produced California Jam and California Jam II. Canada Jam attracted over 110,000 fans, making it the largest paying rock event in Canadian history at that time.

It also resulted in this classic live performance of “Carry on Wayward Son” featuring the band in a classic performance.
