UPDATE: I created this post just over a year ago and in that short time, another 5 MILLIONS views have been added to this great song.
Searching on Youtube for another Supertramp song and I see that this video for ‘It’s Raining Again’, released in 1982, has nearly 40 MILLION VIEWS. Wait, what?
I was a fan of Supertramp back in the day (loved their album ‘Breakfast in America’) but 40 million views of a song that debuted at No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at No. 11. According to some sources, the song was more popular in Europe, but that doesn’t explain why the video is so popular. Maybe it’s because it was directed by future Highlander director Russell Mulcahy? Or maybe the video of a small town boy chasing after his Hollywood-bound girlfriend struck a cord. Who knows? Still a great song from a great band of the late 70’s and early 80’s.
Follow Supertramp on their Facebook page, or visit their website for band news and tour information.
