What a great live performance by heavy metal band Twisted Sister, originally hailing from Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey! Although the band’s roots go back to 1972, the popular version of the band got its start in 1979 when Danny “Dee” Snider joined the band, and the group took a heavier musical direction, influenced by Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Slade, and Alice Cooper. It was Twisted Sister’s third studio album, Stay Hungry, that produced their biggest hits, including “I Wanna Rock” which was written and composed by Dee Snider and released on the 1984 album.
This video is from the Stay Hungry Tour, although we are not sure exactly when or where it was recorded, although Snider at one point mentions California. (A TS fan might be able to help us with that, maybe?)
The “classic” Twisted Sister lineup includes, Jay Jay French on rhythm & lead guitars, backing vocals, Eddie “Fingers” Ojeda on lead & rhythm guitars with backing vocals, Dee Snider of course on lead vocals, Mark “The Animal” Mendoza on bass guitar and the late A. J. Pero on drums and backing vocals.
Here they are, Twisted Sister, from the 1984 Stay Hungry tour, performing “I Wanna Rock” LIVE!
