WATCH: Huey Lewis and the News – “Do You Believe in Love” LIVE 1982

Huey Lewis and the News were HUGE in the 80’s with three #1 hits, 12 Top Ten Hits, and 21 songs that made it onto the Billboard 100 Charts. Not bad, not bad at all.

“Do You Believe in Love” is considered their breakout song, and was the first top-ten hit for the band, peaking at number seven in May 1982. It was off their second album Picture This and was written by none other Robert John “Mutt” Lange, who went on to not only produce country singer Shania Twain biggest hits, but also married her and then cheated on her with another woman. Yes, THAT guy.

When Lange first submitted it to the band, it was called “We Both Believe In Love”, but was later renamed after Lewis made some lyrical revisions. Meanwhile, the popular music video for the song features the band singing into a sleeping woman’s ear, and received heavy airplay in the early days of MTV, which some believe contributed to the breakthrough popularity of both the song and the band.

Here they are, Huey Lewis and the News, from 1982 (unfortunately I do not know the date or the venue, but please let me know on our Facebook page if you do!)
