WATCH: Ace – “How Long (Has This Been Going On)” – LIVE 1977

Great LIVE version of the song “How Long” from the British band Ace from 1977. Although the video quality isn’t the best, the sound is good and it’s hard to find a video of these guys live from back in the day. The song, originally released in 1974 off their album Five a Side, reached No. 3 in the US and Canadian charts, and No. 20 in the UK chart.

So, who was the girl that broke lead singer Paul Carrack’s heart that caused him to write one of the 70’s great breakup songs? No girl, it was actually composed after he discovered that bassist Terry Comer had been secretly working with other bands. Comer eventually returned to Ace in time to play on the song and all was forgiven.

Sadly, this was about the only charting single for the group which disbanded shortly after this performance in 1977.  However, Carrack later became famous as the co-lead vocalist of the band Mike + The Mechanics (remember them?) and as a solo artist.

Here they are from a LIVE TV performance (probably in the US) sometime in 1977. If anyone knows more about this video, please let me know!
